THE YOUNG MAN OF CHRIST DAY COULD NOT PART WITH HIS PROPERTY AND FOLLOW CHRIST AS A DISCIPLE; WHAT ABOUT YOU WHO CLAIMED TO BE….
Are you really who you claimed to be; a servant in the vineyard of Jesus Christ, a Arch Bishop, a Bishop, a Apostle, a Evangelist, a Elder, a Prophet, a Prophetess, a Father , A Priest, a Pastor or Continental Bishops or whatever you might call your self within the realms of Christianity ? Are you really sure the you are aware of all the responsibilities that comes along with such an office or are you just a big fake businessman using the title to exploit others, to grow rich materially , all the while using the Name of Jesus Christ, etc.? Or like Nicodemus you are just plain ignorant of the Truth and needs to be rewashed with wisdom and knowledge from the flowing fountain of the Blood of Jesus Christ; which leads to rebirth? Yet I am aware that many of you know the Truth, but your greed and lust for materialism have blinded your vision and you know it. I can assure you that if that is the case you need help badly or else you will perish. However as much as I am concern about you; I must say that your greatest evil; that I detest with my entire being is the fact that you are taking along to hell with you; millions of God children.
Christ summarized the Ten Commandments as: “loving God and your Neighbour as yourself”. Therefore, one of the first rules of becoming a representative of Kingdom of God is to see others as you see yourself. Always put yourself in the situation of others and ask yourself some questions. What if it was I in this and that situation? What if it was my parents, siblings involved in the natural disasters that I am hearing about daily? What would I have done to assist my flesh and blood? Would I just brush it off with a sigh and say “well I will pray for them”? Would I be worry and concerned and their plight give me sleepless nights? If my son or daughter was caught in one of these disasters, would I be on the phone calling all those I know to render assistance? Jesus told Nicodemus; “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. That which is flesh is flesh; and that which is Spirit is spirit” I am very sure that most of you who are claiming to be called by all these big titles around here, wearing all those big robes etc., sitting in those air cooled offices, owning all those fabulous bank accounts, plots of lands, dozens of vehicles’ for sea, land and air are not born again. Most of us who claimed to be Servants of the Kingdom of God; with these big titles are yet flesh; that is why we are not able to bear the real fruits of the Spirit (no insult intended). Be a little patient with me as I try to explain to you why I am saying these things; then check yourself and see if you are on the wrong side
You all are familiar with this rich young ruler (or at least I assume so) that was very impressed by seeing the disciples doing great exploits in the vineyard; teaching, healing, and preaching with great signs and wonders following them. He wanted to add to his investment and might have thought that if I had such powers I would not heal poor people but those who I can gain great fortunes from. Thinking that Jesus would be impressed by his riches and titles; he came and asked Jesus: “Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life” (Matt.19:16). Why is it that I keep seeing most of us here? In fact how do you preach this topic to your congregation? Because you see; fellow Servant, the answer Jesus gives here is a very important one and we need to know that it qualifies us as being able to put others first before over selves. “Oh the Blood of Jesus; Oh we are under Grace….” Does that stop you from living as the Master taught us? Like this rich young ruler selfishness have eaten to the very core of our hearts and we are not ready to let go even an inch of our property to help a victim of natural disasters around the world today; and even if some of you muster up the courage to do so; it is for selfish purposes.
Jesus orders him to keep the commandments. He asked “Which”; because he begins to feel uneasy .It is so easy to say I am a Christian; I believe in Jesus Christ; I am born again; blah, blah, blah, blah; but when the real test of being a true Christian comes you start finding excuses and theological logics to dodge your way around the issues. You know very well that the people of India and Indonesia needs material support that you can give if you put your mind to it; and yet you choose to dodge your responsibility under the umbrella of having a prayer service for them (A prayer service is right and correct but not enough). Why? Because you are afraid to dip into your pot of fortune and give out just a little to save a life; and yet you claimed to be living by the rules of Christianity. I am ashamed of you.
Jesus goes on to name a few commandments to the young ruler and of course like many of us, he agreed that he was perfect in those things. You know I see a lot of people here; those who have stop preaching about stealing, and lying and cheating and are emphasising giving and prosperity. They now preach giving with different techniques to convince the people. I was just laughing over a preacher that visited one church here from another country and after boasting about his riches and powers; and at the end began to sell mercy, blessings, favour, breakthrough, etc for a hundred thousand cfa( 250 dollars) each. All you had to do is to take an envelope for the group you wanted to buy and your cash in it and drop it on the altar. Here was a master criminal preaching to a congregation of people like him that need help badly; on the pulpit in the name of Jesus Christ. Flesh, Flesh all the way; empty flesh misleading the flocks that the Name of Jesus Christ intended to saved. “Oh ,yes, I have a church, I honour my mother and father, I hold service three times weekly, etc”,; but when it comes to what it really takes to be a real Christian, well….
“….if thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that hast, and give to the poor, and thou shall have treasures in heaven: and come and follow me” (Matt 19:21). One of the most valuable costs attach to discipleship is to be compassionate with your worldly belonging to the poor and needy. But it is laughable to note that most of our modern day disciples read it as “ continued day and night to add to what you have through exploitation, and acquired all the modern equipments for high standard living , thus getting much treasure on earth, neglect the poor , befriend the rich and come follow me”. Jesus Christ said that day that if you attend to the poor and needy with your worldly possessions; you lay up for yourself treasures in Heaven. God demands are very high when it comes to testing our love and willingness to prove that we are loyal to him.
Let’s go back a little in Biblical history and examine a little of the interaction God had with those He chose as His vessels. Now imagine how long it took Abraham to get a child and the love he pour out on that child. Think about the joy of Sarah when this child was born and begin to grow into a young man. Then all of a certain God asked him to not only give Him back the child; but to kill/sacrifice his son with his bare hands. I have always wondered about what was not written in the Bible; did he tell Sarah about the plan or just yield to it without her knowledge? If he did what was or would have been her reaction? (Genesis 22:1-19) What I am trying to drive home here is that to be a vessel for God you must always be ready to sacrifice your best. The real problem today is that we do not want to give God our best; but second handed leftovers that we do not need anymore.
Your brothers and sisters are crying, starving, dying, day and night from the terrible natural disasters that have occur in their countries; these same brothers and sisters that you chat with on face book, these brothers and sisters that you ask about the level of Christianity in their countries, in the same groups on various sites, where you open churches, etc and now you are unwilling to sacrifice to save their lives in these times of need. Are you really who you are claiming to be and yet holding back your treasures from God? This young rash soldier wanted to pay God back if he won the battle; so he vows that God could take the first thing that met him at his return after the victory. Originally God would not have asked him to repay him for what He does daily; unknowingly, for him anyway but in order to prove that if you want to vow to him it must be your most treasured gift. When he saw the consequences of his actions, he wanted to pull back (Jdg.10:6-12; 7). In many ways we are like this soldier who vows to serve God as a vessel with all our heart, resources, and being but when we see the consequences of serving in many cases we try to ignore or run from the problem.
The rich young ruler was so sad as he turn away that day from the Master because like many of us, he valued his treasures more than life itself. These were Jesus words when he saw that poor rich man walk away because of his greed for earthly possessions: “And again I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go trough the eye of a needle; then for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God”. (Matt. 19:23) He did not say it was impossible but the chances are 99.9 in every 100. But in the same token after the stress and pains; God had this to say to Abraham during the congratulation victory speech: “And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time. And said, By myself I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son; That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiple thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gates of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice”. (22:15-18)
Are you really whom you claimed you are in the vineyard of the Kingdom of God? It is now time to awake and take your rightful place on the battle field for God. It is time to reach out to those suffering great pain and turmoil from the natural disasters besieging their lands. It is time to lay up treasures in Heaven for yourselves. The people of India, Indonesia and other lands need you the representatives of God that you claimed to be. Dig deep into your worldly possessions and sacrifice to the Lord by reaching out to His suffering people. You roll John 3:16 on your tongues as if you are singing a song when you are explaining the verse to kids but you are afraid to interpret that verse in your life physically. Do you what it took God to sacrifice His only son? Christ sweat drop like blood just before the great suffering and sacrifice? Do you know the pains His earthly mother pass through to see her son hanging on a tree like a common criminal? Let us re-examine ourselves and reach out to do the work of God as it should be. Let’s stop being flesh and be reborn in the spiritual realm that God expects of His representatives. Reach out and sacrifice from your best and God will bless you.
